Rachel and Justin’s wedding took place amongst the avocado trees and citrus groves in Ojai. The classic California backdrop of mountains and sunshine set the stage for a fun-filled celebration. The tiered venue was one-of-a-kind, as guests moved about throughout the evening from one setting to the next. Following the hilltop ceremony, guests were led to the dining area below by a three-piece band. And as the sun gave way to dusk, everyone made their way back up the candlelit walkway to dance the night away under a sky full of stars. We are so happy for Rachel and Justin – can’t wait to see what is next for this visionary couple!
When every single person that you invite to your wedding RSVP's yes, it means you're a special couple. Renée and Ian are that kind of couple. All the friends and family invited to this beautiful West Michigan backyard wedding not only attended, but in many cases chipped in to make this a truly heartfelt evening. Close girlfriends arranged the florals, Renée's Aunt officiated, many helped set-up the tables & chairs, dogs and kids helped forage for sticks to line the aisle, Detroit friends DJ'd the dancing + karaoke, and two talented photographer friends took a few candid film photos throughout the evening. Check them out - Noah Elliott Morrison and Mark Sommerfeld. Renée and Ian added plenty of their own touches as well including hand-drawn invitations, polaroid thank you cards and some incredible handmade plates and linens for the entire head table.

Any couple willing to explore a graffiti strewn sunken city and an old World War II gun turret for their engagement photos is okay in our books. The circular concrete landscape feature that was once the base for a large gun provided a surreal setting that looked like it was something out of the movie ‘Blade Runner’. Happy engagement, you two. Here’s to years of new adventures together.
There is something magical about walking amidst an endangered grove of pine trees that are only found at two locations in the entire world. These Torrey pines were a true highlight of our evening photo session at the State Natural Reserve near La Jolla. The only thing more stunning than the scenery was our made-for-eachother couple, Rachael and Eric. Our trek along the sun-drenched bluffs made for a spectacular part two of our engagement session which began earlier at the beach.
City Hall served as the classical backdrop to this stunning and heartfelt wedding. We loved that that these two brought their super friendly dog Rocco with them to the ceremony and reception! This little guy was a trooper, dressing up in a bow tie and all. Natasha and Jorge's family nearly all flew in from out of the country to celebrate with them. Even the officiant flew in from out of town, having married Natasha's parents a few decades prior. We couldn't be happier for them as they start out their New Year together!

Days like these make us feel fortunate to call ourselves photographers. We are so honored to have photographed Aaron and Stephen's simple and stylish Courthouse wedding in Santa Barbara. Just as these two were being pronounced husband and wife, the sun broke through the overcast sky - it was a magical moment. The day felt truly intimate and oh-so-special because of how relaxed and loving these two are. After exploring the grounds of the Courthouse, we went into the mountains and watched the sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
As a Landscape Architect and musician respectively, Nicole and Will are a true power couple. When we met for the first time, it was clear that their wedding in Georgia was going to be a heartfelt and hand-crafted celebration. And we were not disappointed. To begin with, their venue was a dilapidated brick manor surrounded by a wide range of landscapes, from carefully sculpted english gardens to a towering grass forest. Nicole helped design her stunningly simple gown and hand-crafted the invitations. For their first dance, they busted out a semi-choreographed creation that put the older-generation to shame. These two exude kindness, sincerity and spirit. This was clear as they danced the night away with their pack of friends and family. As the party came to an end, guests were treated to a homemade hot-sauce party favor for the trip home.
To mark the occasion, Rachael and Ivey rented a house in the foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountains and spent the weekend leading up to their wedding hanging out with their closest family and friends. This peaceful house in Santa Barbara is set on 10-acres of terraced gardens with unbelievable views of the Pacific Ocean. It felt like there was no one else around for miles. One of our favorite parts of this day was the first-look between Rachael and her Dad. It was completely organic, and the reaction as he saw his daughter for the first time in her gown was so sincere. This is the best stuff in life. We're so fortunate to have been part of their day.
Jenny grew up just outside of Portland and even though she and Tam have made Los Angeles their new home together, they chose the Pacific Northwest for their July nuptials. With its palette of simple wood texture and crisp white tones, Union/Pine in East Portland served as the perfect venue. And did you see the ceremony backdrop by Fiore Floral? Needless to say, it was swoon-worthy. Tam drew on his skills as an Architect by laser-cutting pristine, bridge-themed table settings, while he and Jenny created a series of question cards at each table to stir up the conversation. All their personal touches made the day so memorable.

Brittany and Evan are avid day hikers. So when they asked us to take their pregnancy photos, not only were we thrilled, but we knew that we could get to some of our favorite locations accessible only by hiking trails. This evening we explored Topanga Canyon and walked from grassy fields to mountain tops, with spectacular views at every turn. A few deer even joined us along the way. We couldn't be happier for these two and their new little boy due in a few months!
When you meet with two architects to talk about their upcoming engagement shoot location, they come prepared with a vision. And for Aaron and Stephen, they wanted to capture the home they have made for themselves in downtown Los Angeles. Hello Historic Core. We had a blast exploring so many of the places that make this area great. We munched on pupusas at Grand Central Market and explored a few alleys on our way to an epic rooftop view. Aaron slipped into her sneakers and still looked stunning in her simple black dress. I think we all fell in love with this place even more as the sun was setting and the city lit up.
A couple who is willing to hike down the face of a steep, sandy cliff with you to get great engagement photos tells you so much about how amazing these two are! Rachael and Eric spent the afternoon with us at a secret beach along Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach, a short walk from the place they call home. Their sweetheart of a dog, Mackenzie, also joined in on the fun. She could barely stay put with the anticipation of a tennis ball hurling down the shoreline. We kicked off our shoes and had a ton of fun playing in the sand and climbing across the limestone boulders.
